Navigating Chaos: Juggling Corporate Events, Project Deadlines, and Sick Kids to Jumpstart the Year

As I sit down to write this, there’s a humidifier humming in the background, children’s medicine lined up like soldiers on my kitchen counter, and a pile of to-dos glaring at me from my planner. The start of this year has been nothing short of chaotic, yet here I am, still standing (well, sitting with coffee in hand).

If you know me, you know I love what I do. Balancing my role as the owner of Charlie Grey Events with our family’s other ventures, like Doo Doo Blues, is my version of organized chaos. But this year’s kickoff has taken “juggling” to a whole new level.

Coordinating Corporate Events in High Gear

At Charlie Grey Events, January is when things really ramp up. Companies are eager to hit the ground running, and so are we. We’ve been working hard on organizing corporate travel and upcoming business events for our clients. Deadlines are tight, and expectations are high—but we thrive under pressure.

From securing hotel room blocks at unbeatable rates to mapping out transportation logistics, the details are endless. Our clients trust us to handle the heavy lifting so they can focus on their work. It’s a challenge, but it’s also incredibly rewarding to see everything come together seamlessly.

A Project Management Deadline with Doo Doo Blues

On top of the corporate hustle, I’ve been deep in the trenches of project management for Doo Doo Blues, our pet waste removal business. This year, we’re focusing on expanding the business nationally while refining operations locally. It’s no small feat to juggle a growing team, route management, and strategic planning for long-term growth.

Every detail matters, from ensuring our crews are set up for success to creating systems that allow us to scale without sacrificing quality. It’s a challenge that keeps me on my toes, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Life Throws Curveballs: Sick Kids and Mom Mode

Just when I thought I had everything mapped out, life had other plans. My three kiddos decided to kick off the year by coming down with back-to-back illnesses. If you’re a parent, you know there’s no such thing as “powering through” when your little ones need you. Sleepless nights, snuggles on the couch, and pediatrician visits have been woven into my already jam-packed schedule.

And yet, these moments are what remind me why I do what I do. My family is at the heart of everything—whether it’s running two businesses, planning flawless events, or growing our community through Doo Doo Blues.

Finding Balance in the Chaos

So, how do I manage it all? Truthfully, some days I don’t. Some days, the laundry doesn’t get folded, emails wait until tomorrow, and we order takeout for dinner (again). And that’s okay.

I’ve learned to give myself grace and lean on my team. At Charlie Grey Events, I’m surrounded by a group of incredible professionals who keep things moving when I need to step away. Robert, my husband, is my rock and partner in every sense of the word, helping manage the chaos of Doo Doo Blues and our home life.

And most importantly, I’ve learned to stay present. Whether I’m finalizing an event timeline, brainstorming new growth strategies, or reading bedtime stories to my kids, I try to be all in.

Looking Ahead

As crazy as this season has been, I’m filled with gratitude. Gratitude for the trust our clients place in us, the support of my family and team, and the ability to do work that truly lights me up.

To all the working parents, entrepreneurs, and anyone juggling more than they think they can handle—know that you’re not alone. We’re all in this together, figuring it out one day (and one coffee) at a time.

Here’s to a year filled with growth, resilience, and the beautiful chaos that makes life worth living.

Stay strong, friends!
